A total of 2500 heating devices with the needed fuel to operate them for three months have been handed over to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Bahrain Red Crescent Society announced. The aid consignment, worth USD 320,000, was delivered early this week in cooperation with Lebanon Red Cross and targeted the Syrian refugees most in need. An estimated 5000 families with an average of five persons will benefit from the heating devices, given that many places, like schools and mosques, are sheltering many families at the same time. The society said the initiative aims to alleviate the Syrian refugees' suffering in the freezing weather which is sweeping off Lebanon. It also added that a second batch of aid is being prepared as part of a continuous rescue programme targeting the Syrian refugees most in need. The aid consignments follow a survey carried out by an Arab Emergency Team from the Secretariat General of the Arab red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation to evaluate the needs of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
