Hezbollah and Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya vowed in a statement Wednesday to work together to stymie U.S. designs on the Middle East. A joint statement issued at the end of a meeting between the two sides said Hezbollah and Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya discussed ways to “confront American attempts to re-impose its hegemony and control over the region.” The statement said the meeting took place between Hezbollah political council head Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed and a delegation from Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya headed by politburo chief Azzam al-Ayoubi. It said talks focused on Arab and Islamic affairs and the “threats facing the region.” “Concerning Lebanon, the two parties expressed their keenness to exert all efforts to consolidate national and civil peace,” the statement added.
