Hezbollah condemned Monday the latest bombings that struck Iraqi cities, killing over 100 people in the deadliest day in more than two years, and called on Iraqi leaders to boost national unity. “While condemning these continuing horrible crimes, Hezbollah hopes that leaders in Iraq will work to strengthen national unity and exercise self-restraint in order to ward off strife,” a party statement said. It accused “foreign intelligence agencies” of pushing armed groups into committing massacres in Iraq. “These criminal bombings, which reflected the bloody practices of some armed groups, fulfilled the wishes of the Umma’s [Islamic nation’s] enemies by terrorizing citizens, killing innocent people and spreading sectarian strife,” it said. In another statement, Hezbollah condemned the “massacres” against Muslims committed by the regime in Myanamar, southeast Asia. It said women and children were being killed by regime forces, while families were displaced and thrown out of the country. “What is serious is that these horrible crimes are happening with the cover from the head of the ruling regime in that country who presented the Muslims with two choices: Either expulsion from the country or gathering them in refugee camps,” Hezbollah added.
