Excellent coordination is taking place between Hezbollah and Michel Aoun’s Free Patriotic Movement and the alliance between the two groups is strong, said a Hezbollah official. “The Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah are coordinating in an excellent manner and the alliance between them is fixed,” said Ghaleb Abu Zainab, a member of Hezbollah’s Central Political Council. “All these small shake-ups that you are seeing today will ... not obstruct the work we started together because we believed in what we are doing from the first moment,” added Abu Zainab, who made his remarks during an iftar banquet organized by Hezbollah in Jbeil Tuesday evening. Attending were MPs from Michel Aoun’s Change and Reform parliamentary bloc and Hezbollah officials. Ties between Hezbollah and the FPM cooled last month after Hezbollah MPs endorsed a draft law to hire more than 2,000 contract workers at Electiricte du Liban as full-timers, a move opposed by Energy Minister Gebran Bassil, Aoun’s son-in-law.
