The head of Hezbollah’s International Relations Department, Ammar Musawi, expressed the resistance party’s support Saturday for the security measures undertaken by the Lebanese Army to preserve stability and pursue violators. His comments came during a meeting with U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly. Musawi was quoted by Hezbollah’s press office as telling Plumbly that the resistance group supports the Army\'s measures and considers the military a \"unifying national institution.\" Lebanon has recently been plagued by a spate of kidnappings of Lebanese and foreign nationals. A tacit agreement between rival parties that the security situation in the country was spinning out of control created a political atmosphere conducive to the Army’s intervention. Plumbly also discussed with Musawi a privately funded U.S.-made film insulting the Prophet Mohammad that has sparked protests in countries with sizable Muslim populations, including Lebanon. Musawi told Plumbly that Hezbollah condemns such insults, and reiterated party leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah\'s call for an international law that criminalizes insults to the “three celestial religions.” The Daily Star
