His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received a cable of thanks from the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Bahrain Labour Union Free Federation (BLUFF) Yaqub Youssef. Yaqub Youssef extended, on behalf of BLUFF\'s Executive Council, sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for his constant keenness to meet the aspirations of Bahraini workers and achieve their legitimate demands. He also said that BLUFF supports HRH Premier\'s stances and directives during the work meeting he chaired last Wednesday, November 21, to review labour affairs and the government plans to upgrade the labour situation in the kingdom. \"Under your leadership, the Kingdom of Bahrain has issued many laws and regulations that ensure the workers\' human rights, and committed itself to international labour rights,\" he also said, confirming that Bahraini workers\' achievements far exceed those of workers in many developed countries, citing the right to establish workers\' trade unions, the issuance of the Civil Service Law to regulate labour in public sector establishments, the Private Sector Labour Law, the inception of the Insurance against Un-employment system in 2006, one of the most advanced in the region, banning midday outdoor work in summer in order to protect workers\' health and allowing expatriate workers to move one job to another. Chairman of BLUFF\'s Executive Council also backed HRH Premier\'s call to distance trade union\'s work from politics and focus on workers\' interests, asserting that those stances were in fact its founding principles out of its belief that trade unions\' main role is to seek workers\' labour rights, improve productivity and upgrade work environment, and shun political or sectarian polarizations which have nothing to do with workers\' needs. He also pledged that BLUFF will face attempts to defame the kingdom abroad and defend the rights of Bahraini workers in order to optimize the existing ones.
