ICC reports Malawi to UNSC for not arresting Al-Bashir

The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday informed the United Nations Security Council and the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, founding treaty of the ICC, about Malawi\'s non-cooperation in arrest of Sudanese Presdient Omar Al-Bashir. The Hague-based ICC said in a statement released on Tuesday that it decided that Malawi failed to cooperate with the Court by not arresting and surrendering Al-Bashir to the Court during his visit to Malawi on October 14. The court said it found that there is no conflict between Malawi\'s obligations towards the Court to arrest and surrender the suspect and its obligations under customary international law. On March 4, 2009, the ICC issued a first warrant of arrest for Al-Bashir for five counts of crimes against humanity and two counts of war crimes. A second warrant of arrest was issued for Al-Bashir on 12 July 2010, for three counts of genocide.
