Iceland’s parliament voted on Tuesday in favour of recognizing the Palestinian Territories as an independent state, said Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Al Maliki. Maliki added in a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency WAFA tonight that the Icelandic parliament vote came after the finalizing a draft proposal to recognize the State of Palestine submitted by the Icelandic Foreign Ministry, which won the majority with 38 votes without any objection. The Palestinian minister said that this recognition is to be added to the Palestinian political achievements that have been made recently, bringing the number of countries recognizing Palestine to 130 countries.
