Illegal immigrants detained in Moscow placed in temporary camp

Over 1,000 illegal immigrants detained in a police operation in Moscow on Wednesday have been placed in a temporary camp, the press service of Moscow police told ltar-Tass. “The illegal immigrants detained will have their fingerprints taken. Checks will be made to establish whether they are involved in crimes. After being identified, they will be deported to their countries, the press service said, noting that most of the detained had no documents on them. A large scale operation of Moscow police aimed to reveal ethnic criminal groups resulted in the detention of 1,400 illegal immigrants, the press service of Moscow police told Itar-Tass. In the east of the capital, police detained 1,200 Vietnamese citizens and revealed 20 clandestine productions. Illegal shops were found in the same district and 200 foreign citizens staying in Russia without proper documents were detained, police said. Citizens of Egypt, Morocco, Syria, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were among those detained. Part of illegal immigrants held forged passports. Some were in possession of traumatic and fire arms. Over 900 staffers of Moscow police participated in the operation, the press service said.
