India: Any action on Syria must be under UN framework

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said any action on Syria should be carried out under the United Nations framework, the local Times of India reported on Friday. The newspaper reported that Singh made these remarks during a banquet of G20 leaders, including US President Obama, on Thursday night, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, at venue of the G20 Summit in Saint Petersburg. Stressing the Syrian issue dominated the meeting, the newspaper reported that Singh told the G20 leaders that India condemns the use of chemical weapons whether in Syria or anywhere in the world. The premier believes that the world community should wait for the report of the UN inspectors on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria. Syrian regime of Bashar Al-Assad is bracing for military strike by the super powers in retaliation for recent alleged usage of chemical arms against civilians on suburbs of Damascus. The regime has denied its troops employed these arms.
