Indian high commissioner meets Pakistani official to discuss LoC situation

The Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, T.C. A. Raghavan met with Adviser to Pakistani Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz at the Foreign Office on Tuesday to discuss situation at the Line of Control (Loc) and other matters of mutual interest. The meeting also discussed Pak-India dialogue and the upcoming meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this month. The meeting is also important for the whole region and United States, as it would help to improve stability in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of NATO/ISAF troops that is scheduled in 2014. The official announcement of the meeting between the two Prime Ministers was not made as the tensions between the two countries rise due to the recent exchanges of fire between the troops at LoC. Mr. Sartaj Aziz stressed that Pakistan was looking to foster cordial ties with India, adding that the September meeting between the two premiers would go a long way to addressing misunderstandings from the past. The impending meeting of the prime ministers of the neighbouring countries would be a step towards improving relations, adding that it was an effective way to clarify confusions, the Advisor to PM further added.
