India\'s lower house speaker visits Slovenia

Slovenian Parliament Speaker Janko Veber met here with his Indian counterpart Meira Kumar, with the two sides calling for a boost in trade and investment between the two countries. During their talks, Veber and Kumar exchanged views about bilateral cooperation, especially between both parliaments, as well as in economy, culture and other fields, said a press release from the Slovenian parliament. Noting Slovenia is geographically situated at an entry point to central Europe, Veber suggested there be closer cooperation between Slovenia and India in maritime transport. Kumar, speaker of the lower house of Indian Parliament, said there was great potential to upgrade India-Slovenia cooperation. Due to its beautiful landscape, Slovenia could become one of the most popular destinations for Indians, she noted. During her three-day visit, Kumar will also meet with Slovenian President Borut Pahor and Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek. Pahor visited India in 2011 when he was prime minister at the time.
