
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority -Land and Maritime, today held a meeting with officials of the ports of six emirates to examine the performance of port operations and the results of an index of port infrastructure.
The officials also examined a report issued by the International Maritime Organisation – the United Nations specialised agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships - about preparedness of seaports.
They also examined progress of a media plan about the index.
Al Nuaimi noted that UAE is ranked first regionally and third globally in terms of quality of seaport infrastructure, and is ranked sixth globally in terms of seaport structure on the Global Competitiveness Index 2014-2015.
The UAE's maritime sector has achieved significant progress in recent years.
The UAE has been ranked for several consecutive years as the first regionally and tenth globally in the field of cross-border commerce.
