Egypt's Interior Ministry said Friday investigation bodies coordinate efforts with an Italian security team to examine all relationships and links between a gang targeted Thursday, circumstances of crimes they have committed, regions where they were operating and seizures found in their possession.
In a statement, the ministry said that Shubra prosecution is currently questioning the family's members of a defendant, as seizures were found in their home.
The ministry announced Thursday night that it found belongings of Cambridge University PhD student and Italian researcher Giulio Regeni in an apartment in Qalyubia.
"A red handbag was found, including a brown wallet, the passport of Regeni, his Cambridge University ID card, and a visa card," a ministry statement said.
The ministry also said that the bag included other things such as another wallet, a sum of EGP 5,000, three sunglasses and a female wrist watch.
