Cairo - Arabstoday

Interior Ministry warns of violence and damage to public property during January 25 Revolution second anniversary demonstrations on Friday and calls on citizens to abide by the law The Ministry of Interior released a statement on Wednesday calling on citizens to abide by the law during the demonstrations planned for Egypt\'s second anniversary January 25 Revolution. The ministry called on demonstrators to \"protect public property during the January 25 Revolution\'s second anniversary in which all Egypt\'s sects and groups are taking part. The anniversary will coincide with the Moulid Al-Nabi [Prophet Mohamed\'s birthday] celebrations.\" The ministry stressed that any disruptions will only harm the Egyptian citizen. The statement assured that the ministry has changed its policies since Egypt\'s revolution in a direction that maintains people\'s rights and freedoms, above all their constitutional right to demonstrate and practice peaceful forms of expression. The ministry is also responsible for protecting the lives of citizens and their properties, to assure security, the rule of law, citizens\' dignity andstability. Opposition forces have called for mass demonstrations to take place on Friday to mark the second anniversary of the January 25 Revolution which ousted Hosni Mubarak in 2011 and in demand for the revolution\'s goals of \"bread, freedom, social justice and human dignity.\" The Muslim Brotherhood, from which President Mohamed Morsi hails, although will not be participating in the demonstrations are planning to launch a campaign under the banner \'Building Egypt Together.\' The campaign will involve providing free health services, renovating schools, and providing subsidized products. Meanwhile, hardcore Ultras football fans have already started a series of protests across Egypt demanding the \"rights of the martyrs,\" and that those accountable for killing Ultras members are held accountable. The Ultras demonstrations come prior to the Port Said trial set for 26 January, one day after the revolution\'s second anniversary, during which a verdict is expected to be issued on Egypt\'s worst-ever football tragedy, killing more than 70 football fans. However, the trial may be postponed due to new evidence. From Ahramonline
