The 26th executive committee meeting of inter-Parliamentary union of Muslim countries ended here at the presence of representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday.Nine Muslim countries, including Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, and Niger attended the 26th executive committee meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The meeting was first planned to be held for two days, but the member-states agreed to reduce it to one day. Member and spokesman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali was representing Iran at the meeting. The participants of the meeting agreed with changing the name of the union to parliamentary union of the member-states of Islamic Cooperation Organization. The change of the name of the Inter-Parliamentary Union should also be approved at the meeting of parliamentary speakers slated for February 2012. Jalali said that the issues of Sudan and Somalia were also discussed at the meeting and the member-states decided to have the issue of supporting Sudan’s president against foreign threats and helping the people of Somalia.
