Iran and Pakistan sign security agreement

Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement aimed at boosting anti-terror cooperation, Tehran Times Daily reported on Wednesday. The agreement, signed here between Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar and his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik, is intended to take strict measures to combat terrorism as well as human and drug trafficking, said the report. Malik also held a separate meeting with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who described the relations between Tehran and Islamabadas \"brotherly.\" The security issues in Iran and Pakistan have common concerns, said Ahmadinejad, adding that the agreement pertaining to security issues will serve the interests of both countries as well as the region. The Iranian president also called for close cooperation among the regional countries to resolve their problems. The Pakistani minister, for his part, expressed content with the security agreement and said that Islamabad would do its utmost to root out terrorism in Pakistan, said the report.
