Iran strongly condemned Israel’s aggressive acts against the Palestinians, and urged the UN Security Council to take firm action against Tel Aviv. “Iran reiterates its serious concern over the continued systematic human rights violations against the Palestinian people,” Iranian Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazayee said on Monday. More than 4,500 Palestinian prisoners are held in Israeli prisons, many of them without charge or trial. Earlier this year, Khazayee condemned Israel’s racist policies in the occupied territories. In an address to the UN General Assembly’s political committee, Khazayee, who represents the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at the UN, referred to appalling conditions of Palestinian detainees, including women and children, who are languishing in the Zionist regime dungeons, destruction of Palestinians’ homes and hearths, forced eviction of Palestinian people, development of Zionist settlements, siege of Gaza, and Zionist settlers’ acts of violence against Palestinians, while underscoring the condemnation of these reprehensible crimes, which are committed by the usurper Israeli regime, by NAM member states. The Iranian envoy also emphasized that the barbaric attacks of the Zionist regime against the people of Palestine in occupied territories in the recent years, which have left thousands of Palestinians martyred are part of the illegitimate measures taken by the illegal Zionist entity, contravening global rights, including 4th Geneva Convention, and UN resolutions. Iran’s envoy to UN underlined that development of Zionist settlements in West Bank, seizure of assets of Palestinians, construction of the apartheid wall, and establishment of checkpoints by the Zionist regime are the clear cases of violation of the rights of the Palestinian nation.
