
Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Chief of Staff of Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano called for re-establishment of relations between the two forces. The two commanders met in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the international meeting of Naval Security, according to Iran's (IRNA) News Agency. In the meeting, the two sides, given old background of naval ties between Iran and Japan, called for re-establishment of relations between the two forces. Exchanging students, and naval security of northern Indian Ocean and Hormuz Strait were among the most important issues discussed in the meeting. Rear Admiral Sayyari expressed Iran's readiness to re-establish ties with Japanese Navy and it was decided that discussed issues be followed up by military attaches of the two countries.
