Iran\'s judiciary chief, president-elect hold meeting

Iran\'s Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani and President-elect Hassan Rouhani in a meeting in Tehran discussed different ways to increase cooperation between the country\'s executive and judiciary bodies. After the meeting on Wednesday, the Judiciary chief felicitated the Iranian people for their epic scene of presidential election. \"I believe that the three branches of government should cooperate to render more services to the people,\" Amoli Larijani said. The president-elect, for his part, said that it was the first step for closer cooperation between the Executive and Judiciary bodies. On the need to take pre-emptive measures by the Judiciary to stop crimes, Rouhani said that respective bodies must focus on removal of legal vacuums to practically prevent occurrence of crimes by implementation of pre-emptive measures. He called for coordination between the Executive and the Judiciary bodies to remove the bottlenecks in administration of justice, and said that it is incumbent upon the three branches of governments to closely cooperate for settlement of the nation\'s problems. Iran\'s Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar announced Saturday evening that from a total number of 36,704,156 ballots cast in Iran\'s 11th presidential election on Friday June 14, Rouhani won 18,613,329 votes while his main rival Mohammad Qalibaf could secure only 6,077,292 votes. The Interior Ministry\'s election headquarters said turnout among the electorate was 72.7 percent.
