Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed optimism over the future of the relations with Kuwait.\"Kuwait is a friend and both of our peoples converge. We have always had good relations and there are opportunities for these relations to improve,\" he told the Kuwaiti state radio. Salehi, who was visiting Kuwait to attend the Tenth Asian Cooperation Dialogue, added that keenness was expressed by both the Kuwaiti Emir and the Iranian leadership \"to remove any obstacles that stand in the path of improving these relations.\" On the recent Asian forum held in Kuwait, he said this provided the chance to discuss viewpoints on many of the continent\'s important issues. The economic downturn the world is currently facing not only affects economies but the very fabric of society, he said, adding that it was one of the most talked-about topics at the forum. He also said the Kuwaiti Emir\'s initiative to host Asian leaders at a summit held in Kuwait, was a step forward in the right direction for Asian countries.
