The Iran will host the 16th summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member countries in late summer, iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Ramin Mehmanparast said the NAM preliminary meeting is to convene in Egypt by mid May. Iran’s news agency (IRNA) quoted Mehmanparast as saying that Iran will receive the NAM rotating chairmanship for the next three-year tenure. The NAM, with its 188 members, has great capacity for reviewing the global crises and influencing the international events, said the FM spokesman. He expressed hope that the Tehran summit meeting would help remove the existing global discriminations and injustice.
