Iran wants no intervention in Syria

Foreign governments should stay out of Syria, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Saturday. Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters at his weekly briefing Iran has not been supplying the government of President Bashar Assad with weapons to use against Syrian dissidents, Press TV reported. British and French leaders say weapons have been intercepted en route from Iran to Syria. \"The Islamic Republic of Iran\'s position on Syria is to support any reform benefitting the people of this country and opposition to any meddling of foreign elements in Syrian internal affairs,\" Mehmanparast added. Assad has little remaining support in the Middle East, although Russia and China also take the position that there is no justification for foreign action in Syria.
