Iran will soon dispatch its first shipment of humanitarian supplies to Syria to help the people affected by unrelenting violence in the Arab country Press TV reports. Iran's Red Crescent Society said the first batch of medical supplies will be flown into Syria as soon as possible. The supplies will be sent in response to a call by the Syrian Red Crescent Society, the society added. Syria has been gripped by almost a year of unrest which has taken a heavy toll on both civilians and security and army personnel. The West -- which have voiced support for arming anti-government forces in Syria -- and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of President Bashar al-Assad of killing protesters. Damascus, however, blames ‘outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups’ for the unrest, asserting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
