Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Tunisian nation and government are on the path to prosperity and the Islamic Republic is keen to promote ties with the African country, the local Tehran Times daily reported Monday. Ahmadinejad made the remarks at a meeting with the new Tunisian ambassador to Tehran on Sunday, saying that Tunisian people finally achieved national self-determination and held elections successfully. Iran sees no obstacle in the way of developing ties between the two countries in all spheres, Ahmadinejad said, adding that cementing bilateral ties would be in favor of both nations as well as other regional countries. At the meeting, the new Tunisian ambassador who also submitted a copy of his credentials to Ahmadinejad said that Iran has played a major role in regional developments, said the report.
