
Acting Defence Minister, Sadoud al-Dulaimi, met on Wednesday evening, Dec. 25, at the head quarters of the 7th Division, with western Anbar’s tribal chiefs. Security source told NINA that the aim of the meeting is to acquaint tribal chiefs about the goal of the security campaign to crush Qaeda organization and obtain tribal chiefs’ support to the campaign. He added that Dulaimi affirmed to the tribal chiefs that the campaign intends outlaws, not civilians, nor the Baduens or hunters and that clearing the sit-in squares must be done by Anbar tribal chiefs through dialogue and fulfilling the protestors’ demands. Pointing out tribal chiefs full support to the fight against Qaeda and outlaws; and the Government is serious toward reaching suitable solution to the crisis He went on saying that tribal chiefs have rejected any military action against the protestors, demanding security commanders not to harm the protestors, but to resort to dialogue and fulfill the protestors’ demands, expressing full support to the fight against Qaeda and outlaws in any way security commanders see fit. / End.
