
Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek and his Iraqi counterpart Osama Al-Nujaifi agreed to cooperate in fighting terrorism and extremism. The announcement was made in a joint press conference following their meeting here earlier Tuesday. Nujaifi said he and Cicek stressed the importance of boosting bilateral and regional relations. Joint committees will be formed to discuss the file of water, Nujaifi told reporters. Turkey has agreed to welcome the nuclear deal between Iran and the West, Nujaifi said, believing it would be one important step toward achieving stability in the region. Cicek said his country has many reasons to enhance ties with Iraq. Turkey and Iraq are like "keys" to the region, Cicek said, stressing the importance that they talk together for the sake of regional stability and security. Parliaments in both countries have a responsibility to shoulder in this regard. Cicek arrived in Iraq earlier Tuesday.
