Iraq, US seek further military cooperation

Iraqi army chief of staff Gen. Babaker Zebari has met here with the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Martin Dempsey as they discussed bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. Al-Iraqiya, semi-official TV Channel quoted Gen. Zebari as saying the meeting addressed the military cooperation between the two countries, particularly in relation to the F16 fighters’ deal that aims to enhance the Iraqi army capabilities. Dempsey met, on Tuesday with Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki at the beginning of his visit to Iraq coming from Afghanistan.
