Iraq's police troops have arrested a top commander and several members of an al Qaeda terrorist cell in the holy city of Karbala, a provincial police chief announced on Sunday.Speaking to FNA correspondent in Karbala, Police Chief of Karbala Province Osman al-Qanemi said that commander of al Qaeda's terrorist cell in Karbala, Khamis al-Kartani, was arrested in a military operation of Iraq's police troops. Qanemi added that police have also arrested 9 other terrorists in the operation. The commander said that Kartani was behind several terrorist blasts and attacks on Shiite pilgrims in the holy city of Karbala. Qanemi further said that the terrorist cell had also planned a number of explosions in Karbala but its plots were defused by the police. The captured terrorists were in charge of the several bomb blasts in the holy city of Karbala in September which killed at least 25 and wounded 113 more.
