IRGC commander: Iran forerunner of resistance against Israel

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said Friday that Iran is forerunner of resistance against Israel, semi- official Fars news agency reported. Referring to Iran\'s role in resistance against Israel, Jafari said that \"The Iranian nation has always been a pioneer in resistance and showing the world and Muslims its animosity towards Israel,\" according to Fars. Iran will continue its pioneering role in future, Jafari told Fars on the sidelines of a rally in Tehran on the occasion of the Quds Day. Quds Day (Jerusalem in Arabic), was first commemorated in Iran in 1979 and regularly falls on the last Friday of Muslims\' holy month Ramadan in the country. Hundreds of thousands of Iranians across the country rallied on Quds Day to express solidarity with the Palestinians and condemnation on Israel for its \"occupation\" of Jerusalem.
