
Islamists attempted to set ablaze Giza administration building in Cairo.An attempt to set fire to the Giza province administration was thwarted by Cairo law enforcements. According to local TV, a group of belligerent Muslim Brotherhood sympathizers stormed the building attempting to set it ablaze; several suspects were taken into custody. After riots have engulfed Egypt, Islamists adopted arson tactics, setting fires to administrative buildings, governmental offices, police stations and Coptic shrines. Rabaa al-Adaweya mosque, which was the center of protester’s camp in Cairo for several weeks, burnt down overnight as well: Islamists set it ablaze after being driven out by the police. According to latest reports, Islamists blocked Cairo’s circular highway, which has caused massive traffic congestion. It was also reported that a Christian church in Beni Suef was attacked by Islamists. In related news, during the funeral of a Hurghada resident killed in clashes resulted in more violence, according to Al Hayat TV. Young local fell victim to cross fire between the Muslim Brotherhood and the police August 14.
