Israel extends house arrest of mentally ill boy

A mentally ill 19-years-old Palestinian has just had his house arrest extended until next year.As Israel have released dozens of Palestinian prisoners as part of a deal with the Palestinian authority, thousands of Palestinians continue to be holed up in Israeli prisons, not to mention those under house arrest.One person in house arrest is the 19-year-old deaf and mentally ill Ahmad Obeid, who was arrested since August.His lawyer, Aouda Zbeidat said that Ahmad's rights had been violated and told Press TV that “They are also obliged to take him to hospital for full medical check and report. They followed none of these and used his confession under interrogation as proof in the court.”His family added that Ahmad had “become neurotic, he does not eat,” and added, “Ahmad does not know what a police officer, a court, or house arrest is. These terms are above his mental capacity.
