Israeli officer, soldiers injured in armed border clashes

The Israeli army said a senior officer and a number of its soldiers were injured in an armed exchange that occurred at a security barricade in central Gaza on Wednesday. A group of armed Palestinians opened fire at troops stationed at the Kisufim border crossing of the security barricade that besieges Gaza, leading to the casualties, an army spokesperson told Israeli radio. The inflicted injuries were described as minimal. Earlier on Monday, Israeli forces were seen moving through the same border crossing into the easternmost regions of Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza Strip. No Palestinian group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
