Italian Defense Minister Giampaolo Di Paola arrived in Beirut Sunday to hold several meetings with top Lebanese officials, the state-run National News Agency said Sunday. During his visit to Lebanon, Di Paola will meet with President Michel Sleiman, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn, Lebanese Army General Jean Kahwagi and MPs Samir Jisr and Abdel-Latif Zein, according to a statement by the Italian Embassy in Beirut. The statement also said that Di Paola would visit south Lebanon to hold talks with United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon commander Gen. Paolo Serra and visit his country’s contingent.
