King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday reviewed with Ambassadors of the European Union in Amman Jordanian-EU cooperation as well as the latest developments in the region. During the meeting, the King briefed the ambassadors on the outcome of his recent meetings in Brussels and Strasburg with European officials, which focused on forging closer cooperation and partnership between the two sides. King Abdullah II highlighted Jordan’s efforts to implement reform and development plans and programs in various fields to achieve a better future for all Jordanians. He also expressed appreciation of the EU’s support to Jordan in this regard. On the peace process, the Jordanian monarch stressed the importance of the EU’s role in helping the Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table and address all final status issues, leading to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Jordan King also discussed with the ambassadors efforts of the UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan to find a solution to the Syrian crisis, end bloodshed and violence and start a comprehensive political dialogue.
