
Jordanian King Abdullah II met on Tuesday visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the latest Middle East developments, especially Syria and regional peace efforts. During the meeting, the Jordanian leader reaffirmed his country's support for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis in order to halt the bloodshed and maintain Syria's territorial integrity, according to a royal statement. On the Middle East peace efforts, the Jordanian king underscored the importance of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict according to the two-state solution, relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab peace initiative, it said. They also discussed several regional and international issues of common interest and the relations between the two countries and ways of developing them in various fields, it added. On his part, the visiting Iranian foreign minister emphasized Iran's willingness to promote relations with Jordan to reflect positively on the common interests of the two peoples, the royal statement noted. He spoke highly of the Jordanian king's endeavors to promote dialogue, understanding and coexistence among different cultures and peoples, it added.
