Jordan offers more relief aid to Syrian refugees

The Near East Council of Churches Committee for Refugee Work (DSPR-Jordan) began preparations to launch the second phase within the 2013 “ACT” project for Syrian refugees in Jordan which includes supporting Syrian refugee families in Madaba Governorate. The project was officially launched under the patronage of Roman Orthodox Patriarch in Jerusalem and the Rest of Palestine, Kerios Theofellus the 3rd, on February 18 when 300 Syrian families in Zarqa and Rusaifa received 1,000 relief parcels. According to DSPR-Jordan chairperson, Farah Atallah, the second phase kicked off with an executive work plan that started as a field research for Syrian refugee families in Madaba, Ma’een, Madaba Camp, and Mleah to screen the most needy families, which were 400 in total. Atallah said DSPR-Jordan is networking with local Civil Society Organizations, some concerned institutions and Jordanian volunteers to reach the residence of the Syrian refugee families. The second phase involves providing 150 Syrian families with relief parcels containing Medicine, food, clothes and household and children’s items.
