King Abdullah II of Jordan pledged on Sunday to continue to exert efforts to safeguard the holy shrines in Jerusalem and stop violations or any attempts to effect any change at the religious sites and also to keep the city's Arab and Islamic identity. The King also told a delegation of leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church that Arab Christians are an indigenous part of the Arab-Islamic culture. Jordan, the King said, rejected the ongoing Israeli attempts to Judaize Jerusalem , breaches which would undermine regional security and stability, and urged all churches to come together to face Israeli malpractices and back the efforts to protect Jerusalem's identity and the existence and rights of Arab Jerusalemites. The King noted that Arab Christians are an indigenous part of the Arab-Islamic culture.
