Jordanian MP calls for expulsion of Israeli envoy to Amman

Jordan\'s First Vice-Chairman of the Parliament Khalil Attieh called for government’s swift action against Israel’s continued violation of Palestinians’ rights and expulsion of Daniel Nevo, the Israeli ambassador to Jordan. In a statement on Wednesday Attieh said, \"I call on the government to expel Nevo from Jordan and to take concrete and fast measures against Israel\'s violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.” “We urge the government to support the Palestinians in Jerusalem (al-Quds), Hebron (al-Khalil) and all the occupied towns and villages and to restore their legitimate rights to establish an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital,\" Al-Alam reported. He added that, \"We demand to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahami Mosque from Israeli violations.\" Attieh asked the Arab League as well \"to take a firm and fast stand against the Israeli violations in al-Quds and al-Khalil and to withdraw the Arab Peace Initiative that was launched during the Beirut Arab summit in 2002\" but Israel did not respect or accept. Last Wednesday 81 out of 150 Jordanian members of parliament demanded that their government summon Ambassador Nevo to communicate a strong message of protest against Jewish extremists and right wing Knesset members who prevent Muslims from practicing their religious right to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jordanian Parliament also unanimously voted last May on a proposal to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman in response to Israeli violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
