Former Jordanian intelligence chief Mohammed Dahabi was barred from leaving the country and had his assets frozen late on Wednesday by order of Jordan\'s general prosecutor, a judicial source said. \"The general prosecutor of Amman, Mohammed al-Surani, has ordered a travel ban against General Mohammed Dahabi and ordered his assets frozen,\" the source told AFP. \"The measure was taken after a complaint against him from the central bank,\" the source said, without giving further details, though allegations from the central bank usually involve money laundering. Dahabi ran Jordan\'s powerful intelligence services from 2005 to 2009. In December, Jordan\'s King Abdullah II launched an anti-corruption drive against figures once seen as untouchable, in an effort to satisfy calls by the opposition for Jordanian society to be cleaned of graft. The opposition has remained sceptical of such efforts and continues to call for senior officials to be brought to justice for alleged embezzlement of public funds.
