Newly elected Liberal Party of Canada chief Justin Trudeau said Canadians are tired of negative politics. Trudeau, 41, said Canadians want to be \"led not ruled\" results of a week of voting were announced Sunday in Ottawa, the Toronto Star reported. \"They are tired of the negative, divisive politics of [Prime Minister Stephen] Harper\'s Conservatives,\" the oldest son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said. Trudeau\'s message, nodding to the 2015 elections, was one of unity and hope, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. He vowed to usher in a \"younger, more hopeful, less negative\" kind of politics and end internal divisiveness. Among the tasks facing Thatcher, a member of Parliament from Quebec, are rebuilding party finances, expanding party support, attracting electable candidates and developing a successful policy platform. Many Liberals hope Trudeau\'s outreach and fundraising successes can be expanded to the party as a whole, Greg MacEachern, vice-president of Environics Communications, told the Star. Trudeau has talked about honing in on the grassroots level with get-out-the-vote initiatives, fundraising and volunteerism. \"The criticism has been made previously that ... Liberals like to play the air war and not the ground war,\" MacEachern said. The Conservative Party, in a statement, pointed to the lack of Trudeau\'s leadership experience. \"Justin Trudeau may have a famous last name, but in a time of global economic uncertainty, he doesn\'t have the judgment or experience to be prime minister,\" the statement.
