
Sigrid Kaag, the Special Coordinator of the OPCW-UN Joint Mission on eliminating Syria's chemical weapons, arrived in Beirut on Sunday en route to Syria to follow up on the mission of dismantling arsenal of the lethal materials. The Lebanese official National News Agency (NNA) said Kaag arrived from Larnaca, Cyprus, and was proceeding to neighboring Syria The OPCW, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, is masterminding a complex process to dispose of the Syrian chemical arms arsenal. According to media report, first batch of collected military chemical materials has been moved from Syrian sites to the northern port of Latakia, prior to loading aboard a Danish vessel. Marine vessels of various foreign countries are involved in the marathon process of transporting and destroying the deadly materials.
