Khartoum - SUNA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali karti has belittled dangourus impact of Abyei issue on the general relations between the states of Sudan and South Sudan, indicating some of the hostile pockets that lead negative attitudes against Sudan and trying to make pretext from Abyei to strained relations between Sudan and South Sudan. Karti stressed in press statements Saturday at Khartoum Airport before his departure to Brussels the Sudan\'s determination to bridge all the gaps in front of negative interventions in this context. Commenting on the statements of the US Envoy to Sudan Donald Booth in which he described Abyei issue as thorny , Karti said that the U.S. envoy has no role in the case, regarding that the two countries have a clear agreement signed by the two presidents Al Bashir and Salva Kiir on the status of Abyei and the steps that will be held until the setellment of the issue , he considered the U.S. envoy describtion to the issue as thorny has nothing to do with the facts and is mere magnification for the matter. Karti added that Sudan will not accept any intervention in tis affairs from the American envoy unless its helping in the improvement of the relationship between the Sudan and the South Sudan or between the Sudan and the United States, saying \"America has nothing to do with the Sudan\'s internal affairs or its relations with South Sudan, moreover , America has not improved its relations with the Sudan, therefor it\'s not qualified to address such issues \". The Foreign Minister has emphasized that the African Union is the sole mediatior in all what concerns the relations between the Sudan and South Sudan reiterating the Sudan\'s rejection to any new mediation in this file. Karti has reviewed the steps made to strengthen relations with the State of South Sudan following the recent visit of President Salva Kiir to Khartoum which he described as successful, noting in this regard to the significant speedup of building bridges of communication between the two countries at all levels of joint committees and the executive and legislative institutions in the two countries. Karti has expressed Sudan\'s hope for continuation of speeding up relations between the two countries , asserting in the same time the sudan\'s determination to continue support to this positive trend and expects the effective support of the international community in this regard. The Foreign Minister has reiterated the Sudan\'s government commend to the efforts of the African High-Level Mechanism led by Thabo Mbeki and the African Union Commission, and the efforts of the Ethiopian Prime Minister Chairman of the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). Its to be noted that the Foreign Minister will participate in the international conference on Somalia on Monday in Brussels, and due to head from there to New York to participate in the meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
