Kazakhstan, UK sign strategic partnership agreement

Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom have signed a strategic partnership agreement. Signatures under the document were put by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and UK Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday. “This agreement not only reveals potential, but also the two countries’ political will to launch a qualitatively new level of our cooperation,” Nazarbayev told a news conference after the talks with Cameron. “The sides will take maximal efforts to develop bilateral relations using all mechanism and necessary methods.” Nazarbayev said the UK is one of Kazakhstan’s main trade and economic partners. “Britain ranks third after the United States and the Netherlands by direct investments into Kazakhstan’s economy that reached $12 billion. There are 600 enterprises with participation of the UK capital in Kazakhstan’s different economic sectors,” Nazarbayev said.
