Kenyan detectives said Monday they are investigating the sudden death of a German who was found dead the previous day in an apartment in the East African country's port city Mombasa. Kisauni divisional police commander Julius Wanjohi said Raimund Shrenk, 70, was found dead in the area of Shanzu of the district of Kisauni in the city. A neighbor informed local police. Wanjohi told Xinhua in Mombasa that initial reports indicate that he died of natural death, adding that he had no physical injuries. He said officers from the scene of crime stumbled upon several medicines in the private apartment he was staying alone. "There was no sign of forced entry and no suspicion of foul play.We suspect he might have died from stroke related to high blood pressure," Wanjohi said. Documents obtained by Xinhua indicate Shrenk arrived in the country in April on tourist visa. He is a retired business consultant from Germany. "We have launched investigation to establish what caused his death although he seemed sickly; an autopsy report will also assist to unveil the truth," Wanjohi said. The incident came two days after a British national was found murdered by his girlfriend in Bamburi on Friday.
