US Secretary of State John Kerry and members of the Arab Peace Initiative committee will meet here Sunday to follow up on latest developments in the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. The meeting, called on by Secretary Kerry, will focus on his recent visit to the Palestinian territories, Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. It will also deal with the US proposals for moving forward the peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians. This is the third meeting between Kerry and the committee since July of 2013. The Arab Peace Initiative Committee will refer to Kerry a written letter which stresses the Arab stance for an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as the future capital.Foreign ministers representing Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, and the Palestinians, in addition to Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby, will hold a coordination gathering before their meeting with Kerry. In his recent 10th visit to the Mideast region since March of 2013, Secretary Kerry provided a broad outline about the US vision for peace in the region. The US Secretary is against tough challenges with both Israelis and Palestinians refusing to budge. The Palestinians are refusing any transitional or temporary solutions while the Israelis are continuing to build settlements. The Israelis have also insisted on keeping troops on Palestinian territories to ensure their security, a notion which the Palestinians have utterly rejected, however the latters have tentatively agreed on deployment of international peace troops instead.
