Kidnapped Syrian released in return for ransom

A Syrian man kidnapped in Lebanon last Wednesday was released Sunday in return for a ransom estimated at 1 million Syrian lira (approximately LL26 million) and some of his wife’s jewelry, according to the National News Agency. The NNA reported that Mohammad Jabi’s wife had negotiated with the kidnappers for the release of her husband. Jabi, 55, was released by his abductors on a road in Baalbek. He made his way to the Internal Security Forces’ headquarters in Zahle, east Lebanon and informed police. On Wednesday, Jabi was reportedly abducted shortly after entering east Lebanon from Syria. The NNA said Jabi was traveling in a brown BMW 530 bearing a Syrian license plate when four masked, armed men in an unidentified vehicle compelled the BMW to come to a halt and forcibly removed Jabi from the passenger seat.
