Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz has held telephone discussions with US President Barack Obama on regional and international affairs, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Saturday.SPA said the telephone contact was made by the US president late on Friday, adding that the talks touch on bilateral ties between the two friendly nations, issues of common interest, regional and international affairs.The contact between leaders of the international and regional heavyweights coincided with upheavals, prevailing throughout the Arab world, and noticeable regional tension related to several issues and files.Saudi Arabia, a member of the GCC, is a close ally to the US. The two nations have stood together in the face of diverse crises, namely the 1990 aggression on Kuwait.The GCC, the Gulf Cooperation Council, founded in the 80s in the shadow of a regional war between Iran and Iraq, also includes Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
