Kremlin officials to be punished for incorrect information

Staff members of the Russian presidential administration, who have provided incorrect information in their income and expense declarations, will be punished, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told Itar-Tass on Saturday. He confirmed, the inspection had revealed incorrect information in several declarations. “As yet, we are not naming the officials,” Peskov added. From January 1, 2013, officials report not only their incomes, but also expenses, including those of their spouses and children. They report every deal in real estate, vehicle or stock, if a deal’s cost is above the aggregated income over three years prior to the deal. The officials have to name sources of funds used in a deal. In early April, Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov promised the president and head of the administration would have the right to demand for inspection a declaration filed by any state official. On August 19, a ban for officials to have accounts at foreign banks came into legal force. For violation of the above regulations, an official will be responsible for an administrative punishment, including termination of employment due to lack of confidence.
