Kuwaiti First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah reiterated the GCC's commitment to Yemen through support of its political and development processes. The initiative for the political transition in Yemen - brokered by Gulf Cooperation Council states - aimed to secure this, he said, stemming from the importance of Yemen's security and stability to the Gulf. Sheikh Sabah is in the capital, Sanaa, on the invitation of the government to attend national reconciliation talks. He went on to commend these talks as a "unique and inspirational experiment deserving of praise and appreciation, which illustrates the wisdom of the Yemeni people and their determination to be victorious." The Kuwaiti foreign minister congratulated what he described as "accomplishments on the path of a political process", achieved over the past two years, leading up to building a new Yemeni state.
